Dr. Kelly Smith has loved animals for as long as she can remember, growing up in Southern California surrounded by cats, dogs, and horses. After an early career at IBM, she followed her heart to veterinary medicine, earning her DVM from North Carolina State University in 2005. She completed a rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine & Surgery and spent years as a general and emergency veterinarian in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Inspired to care for the whole animal, Kelly became certified in acupuncture, spinal manipulation (chiropractic), and rehabilitation, and trained in Chinese herbal medicine, food therapy, Tui-Na, and homeopathy.
In 2014 she launched Smith’s Veterinary Services, bringing thoughtful, holistic house-calls to pets and their people. Kelly lives in San Francisco with her partner Tim, rescue dogs Eddie Munster and Blondie, and rescue cats Prince and Crawford. She loves cycling, hiking, dancing, outdoor adventures, and all music—especially bluegrass.
